Recreation Leader I – Summer Camp Counselor (Seasonal)

The Paradise Recreation and Park District (PRPD) is seeking enthusiastic and responsible individuals to serve as Recreation Leader I – Summer Camp Counselors for the 2026 summer season. Recreation Leaders will assist in delivering safe, engaging, and memorable camp experiences for youth participating in PRPD summer camps and recreation programs.

Recreation Leaders work closely with recreation coordinators and senior staff to lead activities, support campers, and help create a positive and inclusive environment focused on fun, exploration, and personal growth.

Successful candidates enjoy working with youth, have a positive attitude, and are excited to help create meaningful outdoor and recreation experiences for the Paradise community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Youth Program Leadership - Assist with the supervision of campers and ensure a safe, welcoming, and inclusive camp environment. Support youth participants during activities, transitions, and field trips while modeling positive behavior and teamwork.
  •  Activity Facilitation - Lead and assist with a variety of recreational activities including games, arts and crafts, sports, nature exploration, and team-building activities. Help implement daily camp schedules and encourage participation from all campers.
  •  Outdoor Recreation and Exploration - Support outdoor activities such as park programs, nature-based learning experiences, and field trips. Help youth connect with local parks, trails, and recreation areas through guided activities and exploration.
  •  Safety and Supervision - Maintain appropriate supervision ratios and follow District safety protocols. Assist staff in monitoring camper well-being, managing behavior, and responding to minor incidents or injuries following District procedures. 

Job Type: Part-Time Seasonal

Pay: $16.90 per hour

Expected hours: 40 hours per week including occastional nights and weekends

Seasonal Schedule

Recreation Leaders will begin onboarding and training in April and May 2026.

The primary work schedule will occur during the summer camp season (June–July 2026) with up to 40 hours per week depending on program needs.

Work hours will generally occur during daytime camp hours and may include occasional evenings or weekends for special events.

Park Maintenance Assistant III - Seasonal Part-Time Trail Crew

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Trail building and creation (see full Job Description file attachment below), in addition to,
  • Grounds and Landscape Maintenance: Employees are responsible for maintaining the outdoor areas of the parks. This includes sweeping walkways, raking tot lots, picking up trash, and cleaning slabs. Additional tasks involve digging ditches, planting trees and shrubs, mowing grass, fertilizing, and pruning plants to keep the landscape in excellent condition.
  • Equipment Operation: The role requires operating light-duty vehicles, power mowers, small power tools, and other equipment necessary for maintenance tasks. Proper handling of these tools and machines is critical for efficient and safe park upkeep.
  • Construction and Repair: Employees may perform construction-related tasks to support district repairs and projects. These duties can include basic construction work and assisting with improvements to park facilities, ensuring they remain functional and safe for public use.

Job Type:  Seasonal Part-time

Pay: $19.77 - 22.67 per hour
