The Paradise Recreation and Park District is pleased to announce progress on the Lakeridge Park project in Magalia. Over the years, PRPD applied for at least four funding applications. In November 2021, the State Parks Program ap-proved a $5.2 million grant to fund the project; however, the agreement and subsequent amendments took until December 19, 2023, to become finalized. Since then, the team has been working on design, initiating the permit process, and required studies.

The project has been shaped by a strong focus on community involvement. PRPD staff hosted a variety of public input meetings, including design workshops with school age children and multiple site visits with the community. The park will feature a recreation center, multiple playgrounds, sports courts, a botanical garden, an amphitheater, hiking and biking trails, an interactive fountain, and more.

The District conducted a public site meeting on October 1, 2024, with roughly 25 people visiting the site and the design team sharing information about the new park. This community driven project has been in the works since 2006, with significant input from Upper Ridge residents and volunteers.

Current Project Status As of now, we are in the planning and design phase. The California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) process has been completed, though several permits are still in progress. The site requires a considerable ef-fort to characterize the site building conditions. Geotechnical studies and site visits are in pro-gress with the County.

PRPD is also actively pursuing additional fed-eral funding to construct a resilience center. This facility will serve a broader range of community needs and align with the Upper Ridge Community Plan. The entire project is set for completion by 2028, marking a significant milestone in the recreation and recovery efforts for our region.
