Calling all Hikers and Explorers of the Universe!

Who- Hikers of all ages, families, we invite you to join Paradise Recreation and Park District for a evening stroll around Paradise Lake. If you plan on setting a course record, this is not the hike for you.

What- Hikers will enjoy an easy paced jaunt on the eastern banks of Paradise Lake followed by a star tour presented by Scott Amick M.A.

Where- Paradise Lake, Lucretia Road - Start at the Picnic and Trailhead side and then travel to Boat Launch #2 for the Astronomy portion of the evening. It is a 2 mile hike around this portion of the lake. Participants can either join staff in a shuttle back to the Picnic and Trailhead side of the lake after the Astronomy tour or, they can night hike back with appropriate headlamps.

When- July 15th, 6:00 pm - 10:30 pm. Please arrive a little early to stretch out, warm up, make a few friends, and get the lay of the land. The guided hike will leave the trailhead promptly at 6:30 pm.

Why- The ambient light polution at Paradise Lake is nearly non-existant after the sun goes down, which is a site to see in itself! Paradise Lake is beautiful at dusk and continues to treat participants to an amazing view of the stars - so we combined the two - mountain biking followed by stargazing. We know that there are so many recreation opportunities that the Lake provides, so we diversified the activity portion of the Astronomy event to include Kayaking on May 20th,  Mountain Biking on June 17th and Hiking on July 15th.

How-Tie your laces and grab your fanny pack for an easy going evening hike around Paradise Lake. Please bring a headlamp and plenty of water! You can register by clicking this link once it is live. This event is $25 per person.

Want to skip the hike and head straight to the Astronomy? Totally cool - we offer a la carte registrations for the astronomy portion at this link, once it is live.
