ADULT FITNESSS

TAE KWON DO

Students will learn the Chung Do Kwan style of Tae Kwon Do developing power, speed, focus, balance, and control through basics, forms, non-contact sparring, and other drills. Tae Kwon Do is a great overall workout developing strength, flexibility, and cardiovascular conditioning. The Chief Instructor is a 5th degree Black Belt in the World Tae Kwon Do Association. The class is open to anyone ages 8 and up.

INTRODUCTION TO TAI CHI & QI GONG

The low stress mindful movements of Tai Chi and Qigong increase balance, flexibility, body awareness, health, and strength. In this slower moving class students will build a good foundation and understanding of the Yang short forms
choreographed body postures. This class is well suited for beginning students and for fine tuning the more advanced student. The instructor is a student of grand master Sam Tam.

TAI CHI AND QI GONG

Tai Chi and Qi Gong forms are choreographed movements set by the ancient Chinese to promote health, well-being, and longevity and have been proven to lower blood pressure, relieve stress, increase flexibility, stamina, balance, and awareness.  Students will work with the 37 Posture Yang short form and certain Qi Gong sets while also learning how to incorporate breath, intent, and body awareness.

YOGA - Gentle, Fun & Therapeutic

This class is particularly recommended for seniors with low back, neck, hip, or knee challenges. The instructor, herself dealing with fibromyalgia, osteoporosis, and
kyphosis, knows personally the incredible benefits of Therapeutic Yoga. She is also a former faculty member of the College of Notre Dame, Belmont as a Kenesiology
consultant, ballet and modern dance instructor and has over 50 years of experience in teaching dance, fitness, and movement. Students will be gently coached in correct alignment in each Asana (pose) and Pranayama(breath). Meditational centering, excellent warm-ups, and careful guidance will help you avoid injuries. Bring a yoga sticky mat, large towel and water bottle. Wear comfortable, stretchy clothing.

ZUMBA

Get fit and have fun in this aerobic exercise class. Zumba combines aerobic exercise with Latin music and steps, salsa, cha-cha, belly dancing, and other international rhythms. Wear comfortable exercises clothes and shoes, and bring water and a towel.
It’s a party for the heart! Drop-ins welcome.

Combines muscle toning with original Latin based rhythms of Zumba. This is a safe and effective redefining total body workout that combines light weights with fun Zumba moves and music. Please bring your light weights to class. 1-2 pounds
